New Year, New Mom
Hey moms, I wanted to give some refreshing tips heading into the new year. I have been trudging through this year up until the past couple months where I slowed down enough to enjoy time with my kids and my family. I have been in such a rush to ‘uplevel’ my business that it started to take a toll on my relationship with my kids. But the reality is, no matter how stressed I am about any topic, it doesn’t make the time with them any better to stress. In fact, it makes it worse by wishing the time away so that I can “work”. When the REAL work is them. It is being a patient, loving, fun mom that isn’t on edge 24/7.
A couple practices that have helped me that might help you, too are:
Priming! Tony Robbins has a protocol called priming that I have been doing every day and it has made such a difference in the gratitude I feel for everything! Check it out here!
Exercise: I know this is a given and everyone knows that exercise is important, but I recently found a gym with childcare and it has made a giant difference in my life!
Being more conscious of what I say: This one has been SO hard, but I found myself complaining…often. It wasn’t until I listened to a podcast about the power of words that I really was able to hear how much I was complaining to any adult that would listen. Don’t get me wrong I am 100% still working on this, but I do think it has made a difference in my overall outlook for the day!
None of this article is to say you are doing anything wrong, but to empower you to have a better outlook on your day because it benefits all of us, and as a mom it can be so easy and justified to go down the why me rabbit hole, and my goal is to help!
I have been working during my photography sessions to provide some extra goodness to moms by doing interviews with during the sessions asking three questions. What is the best part about being a mom? What is the most challenging part about being a mom? And, what do you wish someone had told you before becoming a mom?
My goal of these interviews is to just hear from more moms and connect us all to improve our community and not feel so alone. Nobody deserves to feel alone in one of the greatest undertakings: motherhood.
Write back and let me know some of the practices that have helped you when it comes to being the best mom you can be, because I am not even close and striving to improve every day!
